Meet Our Founder
Kris Kurnat hails from southern Poland, born into the Górale highlanders, a people known for having craft in their hands, thanks to their centuries-long traditions of craftmanship and carpentry.
Kris moved to the United States in 2002 and jumped into the woodworking industry, apprenticing for commercial contractors and working for framers and general contractors, eagerly soaking in everything there is to know about residential building. Through these experiences, he discovered what he was truly meant to do: Custom Woodworking.
He fell in love with the process of working with clients to design beautiful pieces or accents that would fit within their space with custom precision, and he also loved the physical work of crafting something from nothing with his own two hands. He founded Kurnat Woodworking in 2007 with the big idea to make anything from wood that you could dream.
Today, Kris still loves his work with a fierce passion, and he’s poured that passion into every aspect of the company, from the quality of the work itself to the simple, start-to-finish client experience.
